Booted terms of use
Version 1.0 (M11 draft for legal review). Effective date: on first store release. Two audiences: clubs (who subscribe and control their records) and individual users (coaches, assistants, guardians).
1. Who these terms are for
- Clubs: the organisation that creates a club in Booted. The person who creates the club confirms they are authorised to bind it and becomes its billing owner.
- Users: anyone with an account — coaches, assistants, club admins, parents and guardians. You must be 18 or over to hold an account. Children use Booted only in kid mode on a guardian’s device and never hold accounts.
2. The service
Booted helps grassroots football teams plan squads, share fair playing time, run match days and keep parents informed. It works offline and syncs when connected. We may change or improve features; we will not remove core functions from a paid plan during a paid period without a refund of the unused portion.
3. Your responsibilities
Clubs:
- Have a lawful basis for the player records you enter and record guardian consent before inviting a parent. Booted processes club records on your instructions under the data processing terms in section 8.
- Use Booted alongside, not instead of, your safeguarding policy. Coaches must hold the qualifications and checks your governing body requires; the app records qualifications but does not verify them.
- Remove people from the club when they leave.
All users:
- Keep your sign-in private; tell us if you think it has been used by someone else.
- Enter only information you are entitled to share. Notes about children must be respectful, relevant to football and suitable to be shown to that child’s parent if the coach marks them visible.
- Do not attempt to access another team’s or child’s data, probe the service, or interfere with sync.
- Guardians: keep kid mode’s grown-up PIN from your child and supervise their use of your device as you see fit.
4. Subscriptions and payment
- The free plan covers unlimited teams per club with the current season’s history. Club Pro adds the development module and full history.
- Club Pro is billed to the club through the Apple App Store, Google Play or Stripe via RevenueCat, monthly or annually, and renews automatically until cancelled in the store or portal where it was bought. Prices include VAT where applicable and are shown before purchase.
- If a subscription lapses, the club drops to the free plan after a three-day grace period. Nothing is deleted: existing teams stay, past seasons stop syncing to devices, and everything reappears when the plan is restored.
- Refunds follow the store’s policy. For Stripe purchases, contact us within 14 days of a first purchase for a full refund.
5. Content and intellectual property
Clubs and users own the information they enter. You give us the licence we need to store, sync, display and back it up to provide the service, and to produce anonymous aggregate statistics that identify no club, adult or child. Booted’s software, design and trademarks are ours.
6. Availability and support
We aim for the service to be available at all times but do not guarantee it. The app keeps working offline; match-day recording never depends on a connection. Support: support@bootedsports.com, weekdays, 48-hour first response.
7. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability to a club in any 12-month period is limited to the fees that club paid us in that period, and to £100 for users on the free plan. We are not liable for decisions coaches make using the app’s suggestions: playing-time recommendations are aids, and the coach decides.
8. Data protection
- Our privacy notice (
privacy-notice.md) explains what we hold and why. - For club records, the club is controller and Booted is processor. We process only on the club’s documented instructions (these terms and the app’s functions), keep the data confidential, apply the security measures described in our security documentation, use only the sub-processors listed in the privacy notice (notifying clubs of changes), assist with data subject requests and breach notifications, delete or return the data at the end of the contract subject to the retention schedule, and make the information needed to demonstrate compliance available on request.
- Transfers outside the UK/EU rely on UK adequacy decisions or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses.
9. Ending things
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. A club’s billing owner must transfer ownership first.
- A club can close its club by contacting us; records are erased or exported at the club’s choice within 30 days, then deleted subject to the retention schedule.
- We may suspend or close accounts that break section 3, with notice where practical and immediately where a child’s safety or the service’s integrity is at risk.
10. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to its courts (consumers in Scotland or Northern Ireland may use their local courts). If we change these terms materially we will tell you in the app at least 30 days ahead; continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change.
